Splet06. feb. 2009 · ITP in children is usually an acute self-limiting disease, characterized by the sudden onset of petechiae or purpura approximately 2–3 wks after viral infection or immunization ( 25 ). Boys and girls are affected equally and the peak of onset is normally around 5 yrs of age. In over 70% of cases, acute ITP resolves within 6 months.
